At DFUTURE we follow the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Privacy Act of 30 July 2018.
Processing of personal data for scientific research at DFUTURE is based on consent or public interest.
When obtaining explicit consent is unfeasible or undesirable (e.g. large reuse of data from third parties, too many people involved/difficult to contact them, unwanted side-effects or distortion of research results by informing participants), we use public interest as legal ground after approval by the DPO (dpo@vub.be).
In such a case, we publish the data privacy policy of studies using public interest as legal ground on this page, so they are publicly available and can be consulted by persons whose data we process.
In case you have any general questions on this policy, you can contact our Research Coordinator (tom.verthe@vub.be) or Data Processing Officer (dpo@vub.be).
For questions regarding a specific study, please contact the supervisor mentioned in the particular privacy policy.
